Tim McGraw (The Blind Side) is in talks to star opposite Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in Safe House. The action thriller follows “the only surviving agent of an attack on a CIA safe house (Reynolds) as he tries to get a lethal prisoner (Washington) to a second safe house before being taken out by violent forces that want them both dead.” According to Heat Vision, McGraw will play Reynolds’ mentor at the CIA, who may not be all he appears to be.” Daniel Espinoza (Snabba Cash) will direct from a script by David Guggenheim, which recently landed on the 2010 Black List of the top unproduced screenplays in Hollywood.
Hit the jump for details on Rosario Dawson (Unstoppable) and Lynn Collins (True Bloods) in Ten Year, plus Jack Huston’s upgrade to regular status on Boardwalk Empire.
Risky Business reports that Dawson and Collins have joined the ensemble drama Ten Year, which centers on a high school reunion. Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Kate Mara, Anna Faris, Brian Geraghty, Justin Long, Chris Pratt, Chris Pine, Anthony Mackie, Oscar Isaac, and Scott Porter also star. Ten Year is the directorial debut of screenwriter Jamie Linden (Dear John), but Tatum has played a major role in bringing it to the screen as producer. The cast is pretty great — and as you can see, growing ever greater — so I’ve been keeping pretty close tabs on this one. I hope for great things from Ten Year.
Finally, if you watched the first season of Boardwalk Empire, you were surely captivated and repulsed by the performance of Jack Huston as a disfigured war veteran who hides the left side of his face behind the creepiest of painted tin masks. Deadline passes along the good news that Huston will be a season regular in season two. It’s possible that the optimal calibration of Huston’s appearances is a few minutes every other episode, as it was in season one. But I can’t help but be excited by the promise of more Huston in the second season.
The grandson of John Huston and nephew of Angelica Huston, was born into cinematic royalty, but the actor is really starting to carve out his own path. Sopranos creator David Chase signed Huston for his debut feature — a “music-driven coming of age story set in 1960’s suburbia” — on the recommendation of Boardwalk creator Terence Winter.
